Advice for the supplement exam ("Latinum")
The Studienkolleg offers a supplement exam of qualification in Latin (so-called
"Latinum") twice a year (in January and July), which is also accessible to
external students. ( Important dates)
The "Latinum" exam consist of two parts
1. Written exam
A slightly adapted text by Cicero has to be transferred into German within
180 minutes. Its length is about 180 words.
2. Oral exam
The students will be tested in morphology, grammar and translation abilities on
the basis of short texts by Cicero. Participating in the oral exam is mandatory
for passing the exam. The grade of the written exam counts twice
as much as the grade of the oral exam. Participants who failed the written part
("unsatisfactory", grade 6 on a scale 1 to 6) will not be allowed to take part
in the oral part. Participants who failed the oral part ("unsatisfactory",
grade 6 on a scale 1 to 6) have also failed the entire exam. The oral part has
to be passed with "sufficient" (grade 4 on a scale of 1 to 6).
A failed exam can be repeated once.
